Would you like to install a chair lift in your Atlanta home? Many north Georgia home owners experience mobility issues that limit an elderly, ill or infirm person’s ability to get up and down the stairs to access a second floor bathroom or bedroom. In this case, a straight stair lift or curved stair lift is the answer.
Sometimes, a frail person may not be completely immobile, but they understand that navigating the stairs is an inadvisable health risk.
Platform lifts, curved and straight chairlifts are wonderful solutions for seniors or others with mobility issues after rehab or major surgery. A stair lift carries the person up and down the stairs in a safe seated position, giving them safe access to the basement, upstairs or backyard.
Atlanta Home Modifications, LLC / Stair Lifts Atlanta offers handicap accessibility design and installation of stair and chair lifts, vertical and platform lifts, and residential elevators as modifications for your home. We provide a complete in-home assessment to provide you with product information and competitive stair lift prices for the installation of ADA Georgia certified stair lifts and elevators.
Stair lifts travel on tracks which are conveniently and quickly installed on the edge of the steps of your stair. The track is entirely supported on the treads of the stair, not interfering with the adjacent wall. Our stair lifts fold up to a narrow profile, enabling the stairway to be free and clear for the regular use of the stairway. Please visit the Atlanta Stair Lifts website to read the three part analysis on how to select a stair lift.
Atlanta Home Modifications offers a wide variety of residential elevators, stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, and dumbwaiters – representing the leading lift manufacturers. Our array of products and technical expertise insure that you will be able to make an informed decision about your lift selection and Atlanta stair chair lifts for your homes. Every lift or home elevator installation is performed by individuals who are certified by the State of Georgia, offering professional home lift installation, maintenance and repair.
Families with aging or infirm family members who are experiencing accessibility challenges at home are well-advised to spend time researching every mobility option before making a decision to purchase a home elevator, vertical platform lift (VPL) or stair lift. Once you have determined which type of accessibility equipment is best suited for your home and budget, you will save time and money by comparing prices and details of specific lift or residential elevator models.
When shopping for a residential elevator for your home, it is critical to determine the weight and size of the person/equipment to be transported. The following details must also be determined:
1) A two stop elevator (i.e. Savaria Telecab, wt. capacity 500 pounds, lift height 16 feet) that rides on a track supported by a load bearing wall and does not require a pit
2) A two-four stop elevator enclosed in a shaft (i.e. Savaria V1504, wt. capacity 750 pounds, lift height 23 feet)
3) A multi-stop elevator that does not require a machine room (i.e. Savaria Eclipse, wt. capacity 750 pounds, lift height 50 feet)
One final type of elevator, the Pneumatic Home Vacuum Elevator (PVE), is self supporting and uses minimal electricity as it employs gravity to descend. PVE offers three different models, ranging from single passenger to a three passenger, wheelchair-accessible model. Some of today’s popular elevator brands include Symmetry, Garaventa, Savaria, Harmar and Waupaca.

STAIR LIFTS AND PLATFORM LIFTS
STRAIGHT STAIR LIFTS Straight Stair Lifts require the stair lift user to get in and out of the stair lift running straight from one floor to the next.
CURVED STAIR LIFTS Curved Stair Lifts require the stair lift user to get in and out of the stair lift chair. It runs up a short portion of stairs to a landing, and then up another short portion of stairs, from one floor to the next.
INCLINED PLATFORM LIFTS (IPL) Inclined Platform Lifts carry the individual in their wheel chair, vertically, on an incline — at the same angle as the stair. The inclined platform lift makes stairs accessible for the wheelchair bound individual.
Straight and Curved Stair Lifts
Straight Stair Lifts The straight stair lift is the most common, and is very affordable for most homeowners. Most stair lifts are available with a battery, to ensure operation during a power outage, and runs off of a standard electrical outlet in the home. Straight stairlifts can typically be installed in half a day. The Sterling 950 straight stair lift is manufactured by Handicare.
Curved Stair Lifts Curved, switchback or split level stairs, with landings and curved sections, require custom curved stair lifts. Precise measuring and factory precision guarantee that the curved stair lift fits perfectly into the home stairway. Curved stair lifts are more expensive than straight stair lifts, but are still often much more affordable than moving or adding an accessible bedroom or bathroom on the first floor. A few facts to consider:
For safety, the stair lift seat swivels away from the stairs at the top, while the footrest remains in place. The swiveling movement allows the rider to place his or her feet safely on the top landing, allowing the rider to safely stand or transfer to a wheelchair or scooter.
Inclined and Vertical Platform Lifts
Inclined Platform Stair Lift (IPL) Two videos explaining two of the types of lifts we install are as follows: inclined platform stair lifts, and ceiling track in-home lifts systems. When a transfer in and out of a wheelchair requires a lift in a home without space for a lift, one of the three following options could be considered; a small enclosed shaft way within or adjacent to the home; an exterior vertical platform lift, or a ramp. Please contact us at 770.880.3405 or by email using our contact form to discuss your accessibility options. Lift options for tight spaces often require special lift modifications such as a motorized track lift at the bottom, or utilizing a combination of two lifts or a lift and a ramp. Vertical Platform Lift (VPL) Are you a metro Atlanta homeowner and a wheelchair, powerchair or scooter bound individual who is confronted with a stair that prevents you from getting up to a second floor; or out to the back yard? This can be frustrating, but there are accessibility solutions such as a Bruno Vertical Platform Lift (VPL) that can help you regain your independence and mobility.

Outdoor Stair Lifts and Wheelchair Platform Lifts
Outdoor Stair and Wheelchair Lifts Outdoor stairlifts are waterproof with UV protected upholstery, and equipped with safety controls to prevent unauthorized use. Stair and chairlifts are manufactured for outdoor installations and located at access points between a vehicle parking location and a deck, porch or door location. Atlanta stair chair lifts for your home are available in open platforms, and enclosed elevator shaftways. While a one-step into the front door can be fixed by a ramp, getting out into the yard or garden can be a significant challenge. You may be surprised to learn that both stair lifts and platform lifts are available to be installed on the exterior of the home.
